A top quality, large Phareodus fish. The Phareodus encaustus is a Osteoglossidae fish from the Eocene age (50 MYA) fish, Green River Fm., Lincoln Co. Wyoming. The Phareodus was a carnivorous fish with large pointed teeth and a long pectoral fin. This piece is from the Split Fish Layer and shows fantastic detail. Excellent preservation and preparation. A QUALITY shark vertebra from the Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina. Exceptional condition and preservation. Incredibly defined ventral holes. This vertebara aseptate design and resembles a vertebra from Physogaleus. These vertebrae are rarely found and exceptional specimens are extremely difficult to obtain. These vertebrae were found in Miocene Pungo River Formation (15 million years old). Authenticity guaranteed.
