A GEM, 4-7/8"+" Classic Lee Creek Megalodon tooth - an upper jaw PRINCIPAL ANTERIOR tooth. This Meg has an incredible light tan and blue colored crown with an excellent brown bourlette. Highest quality enamel - complete! Exceptional color! The bourlette is excellent and complete! The serrations are large and razor sharp - perfect. An excellent tip serration. Exceptional serrations for a big Meg! The root is an excellent tan color and absolutely complete. This Megalodon was found in the Pungo River Formation, Lee Creek mine, NC (Miocene age = 15 MYA). The March 2016 Fossil of the Month is a GEM light brown colored Megalodon - PRINCIPAL ANTERIOR tooth. Highest quality enamel - glass-like with no hydration cracks! A very rare, Otodus auriculatus tooth from the copper-red site of No. Carolina. The crown has coarse serrations. The side cusps are typical of the Otodus obliquus. Complete root. Early Eocene - Ypresian age. A very rare collector's tooth. Very few Otodus auriculatus teeth (early form) found at this site!

A GEM, very rare Otodus aksuaticus tooth with gray color. Excellent transitional tooth with small serrations covering 3/4 of the crown and side cusps. Found in Tushbiar, Mangyshlak, W. Kazakhstan. This is a GEM quality tooth, but it a pit in the bourlette area. Kazakhstan is one of the few places on earth where the transition series from Ototdus (non-serrated) to Auriculatus (fully serrated) can be found.

An EXTRA LARGE, GEM Tyrannosaurus rex tooth. This crown measures 2-3/4" and is thick (1"). The GEM quality T-Rex  teeth are very rare. The enamel is the highest quality. Exceptional anterior and posterior serrations. One natural crack, but no break. T-Rex was the apex during the late Cretaceous with massive teeth capable of crushing its prey. A very rare, early Otodus mugodzharicus upper jaw, lateral tooth from Aktulagay, western Kazakhstan. A transitional tooth leading to C. auriculatus (see detailed discussion below) which leads to Megalodon. A November Fossil of the Month.The bourlette is complete. Tooth exhibits "wavy serrated" edges similar to the Isurus escheri tooth. These teeth exhibit very good color, gloss, and preservation. A rare, early Eocene Auriculatus transition tooth. A very challenging tooth to find when building a Megalodon evolutionary set! No repair. Authenticity guaranteed. This western Kazakhstan site is one of the few places in the world where the Otodus to Auriculatus transition can be found in adjacent layers. Note - This is my last offering of Aktluagay teeth.
