Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion or a vertical whipping motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. An ultra rare, Top Quality Classic Red Site Otodus megalodon from the Meherrin River, North Carolina. This Meg is an excellent upper jaw anterior tooth. NC002 has a rich copper-red color. The enamel is the high quality with good gloss. The serrations are large with a worn tip serration. Bourlette is black and composed of the dentin layer. The root is complete and nicely articulated. Note - you rarely see a copper red colored Megalodon tooth that has a top quality crown and serrations and a complete root - a top tooth from this site! NO repair or restoration. A rare Mako shark tooth from Sumatra, Indonesia. These teeth appear to be juvenile Isurus desori teeth (narrow crown) and are scarce in the Sumatran deposit. They were deposited in the Telisa formation - a shallow marine environment during the middle Miocene (approx. 15 million years ago.) A very unique collector's tooth. D056 is an upper jaw tooth.
