A  TOP Quality Chubutensis tooth - an upper jaw tooth from So. Carolina. Otodus chubutensis or Chubutensis is the extinct ancestor of the Megalodon shark. An excellent Gray colored crown. Highest quality enamel. The black bourlette is complete. Sharp serrations are sharp with an excellent tip serration and essentially complete. The root is charcoal gray colored and complete. Note the small cusp-like bumps at the base of the cutting edge, grooved sides of the root lobes, and the larger sized serrations - all are Chubutensis characteristics. An EXTRA LARGE ultra rare, Top Quality Red Site Otodus megalodon tooth from the Meherrin River, North Carolina. A January Fossil of the Month. This Megalodon is a BIG upper jaw anterior tooth from the Meherrin River copper-red site. Excellent copper red color. The enamel is the highest quality, and there is a cool bite mark on the display side (see the 3rd photo). The serrations are large, razor sharp, and essentially complete with a good tip serration. Bourlette is extra large and brown - dentin layer. The root is wide & complete. A Pliocene Meg tooth. Note - the front center strip of enamel was professionally restored (high point of the tooth only).
