An EXTRA LARGE Top Quality, Carcharodon hastalis,  Mako shark tooth (lower anterior jaw tooth) from the Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina. Note - This tooth exhibits the classic characteristic shape of the middle Miocene Mako teeth found both in the Lee Creek mine and the NC red site. I do not see this Mako tooth shape from other Miocene deposits. Possibly a hastalis species variation and it is referred to as the "narrow form". Maximum size is approximately 2". A GEM QUALITY Chubutensis tooth from the Ica area of Peru - an upper jaw tooth. An August Fossil of the Month. An excellent dark tan colored crown with no peel. Highest quality enamel. A rare, EXTRA LARGE Chubutensis tooth from Peru - upper jaw tooth. An excellent tan colored crown with no peel. Large side cusps. Extra sharp serrations are excellent with some damage.
