These are excellent examples of a modern Speartooth shark, Glyphis glyphis. The Speartooth shark gets its name from the unique spear-like shape of its lower jaw teeth. It belongs to the River sharks as part of the Carcharhinidae family. It inhabits tropical coastal marine waters and large tropical rivers in Australia and New Guinea. Adults grow to about 2.6 m (8.5 ft) long.
