An Extra Large, Top Quality Abelisaurid dinosaur tooth from the Cretaceous Kem Kem deposits of Morocco. An August Fossil of the Month. Note - There are two Abelisaurid species in the Kem Kem, and these large teeth appear to be a more consistent with the large species. Excellent red color and serrations. Excellent preservation. No repair or restoration. This is a first time offering of a small quantity of Abelisaurid - large species teeth. These teeth are rare. Authenticity guaranteed. A fantastic Abelisaurid tooth. Tooth comes with a floating display frame. This is the largest Abelisaur tooth crown that I have seen.

Abelisaurid - Abelisaurid, a family of ceratosaurian theropod dinosaurs, appears to fill the raptors role or niche in northern Africa during the early late Cretaceous period based on the relative abundance teeth and few raptor teeth. This family of dinosaurs includes more familiar dinosaurs, such as, Carnotaurus. Most of the known Abelisaurids would have been 17 to 30 feet in length. Abelisaurid means "Abel's Lizards".

Note - A smaller raptor does exist in the Kem Kem deposit, but it is very rare based on few teeth found.

How do you distinguish the Abelisaurid tooth from a raptor tooth? The posterior face (side) of the Abelisaurid teeth is straight. Whereas, raptor and most theropod teeth have a posterior side that would be mildly or strongly curved.
