A beautifully prepared Asaphus kowalewskii trilobite from the Saint Petersburg region, Russia. A very nice three lobe design. Note the very elongated eyes. This trilobite developed elongated eyes so it could bury itself well below the mud for protection. This species has the longest eye appendages. An interesting and very unusual evolutionary feature. Exceptional quality and preservation! A scarce species!
