A LARGE, GEM Chubutensis tooth - an upper jaw anterior tooth from So. Carolina. Carcharocles chubutensis or Chubutensis is the extinct ancestor of the Megalodon shark. A March Fossil of the Month. Top quality enamel with a gray and tan colored crown. Mirror-like surfaces.The bourlette is black, extra large and 100% complete. Great eye appeal! The serrations razor sharp and 100% complete with an excellent tip serration. Perfect serrations! The root is complete with typical hydration cracks. Note the small cusp-like bumps at the base of the cutting edge and the grooves on the sides of the root ends - both are Chubutensis characteristics.
