Catalog updated on March 25, 2007. Note - This is my best group of Ptychodus ever! Note - Teeth dimensions are width and height in inches. Ptychodus anonymus (Scarce) This catalog contains very nice teeth from an early Hybodotid shark - Ptychodus anonymus. The Ptychodus anonymus is one of the smaller Ptychodus species with very unique, robust, and beautifully articulated. These teeth were collected in the Eagle Ford group, Travis County, Texas (Turonian - 94 million years ago) and the Kamp Ranch formation, Eagle Ford group, Dallas County, Texas (Turonian - 94 million years ago). All teeth are complete and well preserved. My best selection of large and quality Ptychodus anonymus teeth ever!
Ptychodus decurrens (rare) This catalog contains very nice teeth from a rare, early Hybodotid shark - Ptychodus decurrens. These teeth were collected in the Weno Formation of the Washita Group, Tarrant Co. (Albian - late Cretaceous - 110 million years ago) and several other locations. Ptychodus latissimus (very rare) This catalog contains very nice teeth from a very rare, early Hybodotid shark - Ptychodus latissimus. Ptychodus mortoni (rare) This catalog contains very nice teeth from a rare, early Hybodotid shark - Ptychodus mortoni. These teeth were collected in the Eagle Ford group, ACTO Contact Formation, Ellis County, Texas (Coniacian - 85 million years ago). All teeth are complete and well preserved.
Ptychodus polygyrus (very rare) This catalog contains very rare teeth from the largest of the Texas Ptychodus sharks, Ptychodus polygyrus - an early Hybodotid shark. These teeth were collected in the Eagle Ford group, Travis County, Texas (Turonian - 94 million years ago) and the Kamp Ranch formation). All teeth are complete and well preserved.
Ptychodus sp. (rare) This catalog contains very nice teeth from a rare, early Hybodotid shark - Ptychodus sp. This is a unique undescribed species presented in Welton's Texas Fossil Shark's text book which exhibits deep crown grooves which radiate out. These teeth were collected in the Eagle Ford group, Arcadia Park Formation, Collin County, Texas (Turonian - 94 million years ago). All teeth are complete and well preserved.
