Carcharocles megalodon - Extinct Giant White shark (Italy) This catalog contains gorgeous and rare Carcharocles megalodon teeth, the extinct Giant White shark. These Meg teeth were found in the Puglia region of Italy. These teeth are Miocene (15 mya). You may not see these Meg teeth again.
Cretolamna borealus - a Mackerel shark (Russia) The Cretolamna borealus is a very uncommon Cretolamna shark. These teeth is come from a lower Cretaceous site (Albian - 112 mya) in Belorod region of Russia. These teeth are well preserved.
Ginglymostoma berdeykensis - a Nurse shark (Russia) The Ginglymostoma berdeykensis is a very uncommon Nurse shark. These teeth is come from a middle Paleocene site (Selandianian - 61 mya) in Volgograd region of Russia. These teeth are well preserved.
Paraisurus macrorhiza - a Lamnid shark (Russia) The Paraisurus macrorhiza is a extremely rare Lamnid shark. The tooth exhibits very long, slender roots with a very high protruding lingual root face, and a compact crown. The root of these these are very fragile and most specimens are collected without the root. Specimens with roots are exceedingly rare. These teeth is come from a lower Cretaceous site (Albian - 112 mya) in Kursk region of Russia. These teeth are well preserved.
Sphenodus stschurowskii - a Orthacodontidae shark (Russia) The Sphenodus is a very rare Jurassic age shark from the Moscow region of Russia. The tooth exhibits a long, slender spike-like crown and a very broad, flat bottomed root (an occasional side cusps is present). These teeth are very well preserved. The roots show nice articulation.
Edestus heinrichi & E. mirus - Coal shark (USA - Illinois) The Edestus heinrichi or Edestus mirus, the Coal shark, are very rare Pennsylvanian age shark found in an underground coal mine in Sparta, Illinois. The tooth exhibits a unique broad triangular crown with huge serrations. The roots are also quite unique as they appear as long arms with the crown at the end. The roots would interlock to form a "tooth whirl." These teeth are well preserved. These teeth are from the Anna Shale Fm. (Carbondale Group) - approx. 300 million years in age. You may never see a group like this again. I cleaned the last of group I obtained 3+ years ago and these are the best specimens! Note - Size is quoted as the crown slant height only.
Isurus hastalis - Big-tooth Mako shark (USA - Calvert Cliff, MD) This catalog contains excellent Miocene age Isurus hastalis , the Big-tooth Mako shark. These teeth are an early form of I. hastalis with the narrower crown from the Calvert Formation (early middle Miocene) - approx. 18 million years in age, Calvert Cliffs, Maryland. Note - Left photo --> upper data & right photo = bottom data. Isurus retroflexus - Longfin Mako shark (USA - Calvert Cliff, MD) This catalog contains excellent and rare Miocene age Isurus retroflexus, the Longfin Mako shark. These teeth are from the Calvert Formation (early middle Miocene) - approx. 18 million years in age, Calvert Cliffs, Maryland.
Orthacanthus texensis - Primitive shark (USA - Waurika, OK) This catalog contains excellent and rare Permian age Orthacanthus texensis, an early Primitive shark. These teeth are from the Lower Admiral Formation (Permian) - approx. 265 million years in age, Waurika, Jefferson Co., Oklahoma.
