| North Carolina - Other Isurus Species Teeth Please page down to quickly go to the shark teeth in this catalog (below - Isurus praecursor, Isurus desori, & Isusrus retroflexus teeth) or click on the Lee Creek Makos to go to that catalog at the bottom of this page (Isurus desori, Isusrus hastalis, Isurus xiphodon, Isurus oxyrhinchus, & Isurus retroflexus teeth).
Gorgeous copper red colored teeth found in Hertford County in NE North Carolina. Please note that these Isurus teeth are noted for their unique copper red color and excellent preservation. This color is rarely seen - adding to the value of these Makos. All teeth listed are near museum quality or better. Absolutely NO restoration or repair in this group! Try finding one of these species with the rare copper red colors! Note - all teeth sizes are slant height unless otherwise noted. Click on photos to enlarge. Catalog updated December 17, 2008. Isurus praecursor Note - Left photo --> upper data & right photo = bottom data. Isurus desori & Isurus oxyrhinchus
Isurus retroflexus These some of the finest examples of the rare Isurus retroflexus that I have seen. The crowns are very wide and the enameloid build up "shoulders" on the reverse side of the root are very pronounced and elevation off of the root face is significant. No mistaking these teeth. This is an incredible selection of rare extra large, Miocene age beauties. The finest Isurus retroflexus specimens that I have seen! A very challenging tooth to find at this site.
