The Isurus desori is an earlier form Narrow-Tooth Mako found in the
Pungo River Formation (Middle Miocene - ~15 mya) at the Lee Creek site. The
upper jaw teeth exhibit a slender and typically curved crown. An uncommon tooth.
The Isurus oxyrinchus is a modern form Shortfin Mako found in the
Yorktown Formation (Early Pliocene - ~4.5 mya) at the Lee Creek site. The upper
jaw teeth exhibit a narrower and a curved crown. An uncommon tooth.
The Isurus retroflexus is a modern form Longfin Mako found in the
Yorktown Formation (Early Pliocene - ~4.5 mya) at the Lee Creek site. The upper
jaw teeth exhibit a short crowns, a high root face, and root build up at the
base of the crown on the labial side. A rare tooth.
