-Moroccan Sand Tiger Shark Teeth
This catalog contains exceptional teeth from a variety of highly collectable Moroccan shark teeth. The age of these shark teeth range from Eocene to Cretaceous (50-70 million years ago). The large size and top quality condition of these shark teeth make them uncommon, very collectable, and a great addition to your shark teeth collection. All of these teeth come from the Khouribga phosphate plateau region of Morocco. All teeth are collector's quality. Note - all teeth sizes are slant height unless otherwise noted. These teeth were originally described as Odontaspis robusta (Arambourg 1952), but now are argued to belong to Carcharias hopei. Either way, they are extra large, well preserved, complete (including side cusps) and beautiful. The anterior teeth exhibit straight crowns with a very pronounced root development on the display side, and well developed side cusps. The lateral teeth exhibit a very nicely curved, board crown. Eocene age - approx. 55 million years old. Note - These are the largest Carcharias that that I have seen. Exceptional collector's teeth! Note - Left photo --> upper data & right photo = bottom data. Click on photos to enlarge. Odontaspis substriata (Extinct Sand Tiger Shark) These are gorgeous teeth from a moderately sized Moroccan Sand Tiger shark. These teeth were originally described Arambourg (1952), but much of his work has been reclassified. They are large, well preserved, complete (including the exquisite side cusps) and beautiful. The anterior and lateral teeth both have straight crowns with well developed side cusps. Eocene age - approx. 55 million years old. Note - may also be referred to as Carcharias substriata (Stromer 1910). Click on photos to enlarge. Note - sold in groups of two teeth. Striatolamia macrota (Extinct Sand Tiger Shark) One of the largest Sand Tiger sharks that spanned the Paleogene Period. The crowns of the these teeth exhibit striations which are typically well pronounced. Anterior teeth have two small cusplets while the lateral teeth have larger, boarder side cusps. The teeth in this catalog are large, well preserved, complete, and are excellent collector's teeth. Note - I received a small group of absolutely huge Striatolamia teeth. Exceptional collector's teeth! Click on photos to enlarge. Note - sold as individual teeth and in groups of two teeth. Note - Left photo --> upper data & right photo = bottom data.
