Paratodus mangyshlakensis - Extinct Otodontid shark

One of the rare species of the middle Eocene (lower Bartonian - 40 mya)  from Tushbair, W. Kazakhstan. This is described as an early Paratodus. These teeth are quite large for this species. These new teeth represent two years worth of digging at the Tushbair site.

A very nice pair of Physogaleus lateral teeth.

Trigonotodus tusbairicus  - Early Thresher Shark

Another one of the rare species of the middle Eocene teeth (lower Bartonian - 40 mya) from Kert, W. Kazakhstan. The Trigonotodus represents the earliest occurrence of the Thresher sharks and is most likely the ancestor of the extinct Giant Thresher shark. Note the characteristic extra wide root.  These are great examples of a rare early Thresher. These teeth are tough to locate!
