| Chile Megachasma sp. This catalog contains very large and very rare teeth from the Megamouth shark - Megachasma. These teeth were impossible to find until the Chilean deposit yielded sufficient specimens to make it a collectable rare tooth. These teeth are of exceptional size and color. The Megamouth shark is a huge filter feeder and possesses a tooth with a very unique shape. These Megachasma are of excellent quality exhibiting a heavy root topped with a large spiked crown. Although this whale was a filter feeder, you would not want to confront these teeth! These teeth are late Miocene-Pliocene age (4-6 million years ago). This is an incredible group of museum to near museum quality. These teeth are rarely seen for sale and the Chile site is producing some phenomenal specimens (more so than any where else in the world!). Those who have hunted in the Lee Creek mine know how difficult it is to find this tooth. A typical quality Lee Creek tooth sells for $300 or more. These teeth represent the best quality Megachasma teeth to be found - any where. You will see others offered, but none will be finer. Note - 1) All teeth sizes are slant height unless otherwise noted. Click on photos to enlarge. Catalog updated March 24, 2008. Note - An incredible group of perfect teeth from my old inventory. You will never see a group of top quality Megachasma teeth this large!
